- Vehicle Wrecks
As per the Town of Bonavista's Occupancy and Maintenance Regulation (2.31), property shall be free from debris, including any vehicle that is in a wrecked, discarded, or abandoned condition. Residents who have vehicle wrecks on their property are asked to have them removed as soon as possible. If you require assistance with removal, please contact the Town Office and your wreckage will be added to the Town's bulk garbage pickup list, with pickup dates throughout June and July. 709-468-7747 info@townofbonavista.com
- 2025 Bulk Garbage Curbside Collection
Bulk garbage collection for Bonavista will be held on the designated day for your area. Registration is required for pick up. You must call or email the Town Hall to schedule collection . It may take several days for all bulk garbage items to be removed from all residences in the area. For example, if you are scheduled for curbside pick-up on Monday, if there are a high number of scheduled collections, the pickup may occur on the next day. Municipal employees will not pick up items throughout your property. Garbage must be accessible and boxes free of snow/debris All items must be bagged or bundled and tied. Scattered or loose items will not be collected. Car wrecks will not be accepted during this bulk collection. However, please contact town hall to arrange for pick up throughout June and July. A limit of 500 lbs or one pick-up load (whichever is less) will be collected from each household. Bulk items will not be picked up after the scheduled collection days. Residents are reminded that the tax payment deadline for all taxes owing is April 30, 2025. Unless a payment plan is in place, any unpaid amounts may result in a disconnection of services as per Part VII Division 10 (S.160) of the Towns and Local Service Districts Act. URBAN AND RURAL PLANNING ACT, 3000 NOTICE OF REGISTRATION TOWN OF BONAVISTA MUNICIPAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 3, 2024 AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS AMENDMENT NO. 3, 2024 TAKE NOTICE that the Town of Bonavista Municipal Plan Amendment No. 3, 2024 and Development Regulations Amendment No. 3, 2024 adopted on 12th day of August 2024 and approved on January 13, 2025, have been registered by the Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs. THAT the Town of Bonavista Municipal Plan Amendment No. 3, 2024 and Development Regulations Amendment No.3, 2024 come into effect on the day that this notice is published in The Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette. Anyone who wishes to inspect a copy of these documents may do so at the Town Office during normal working hours.
- Notice: NEW Snow Clearing & Ice Control Policy
On January 13, 2025, during a regularly scheduled meeting, the Council approved a new policy focused on snow clearing and ice control. This policy aims to enhance public safety and improve accessibility throughout the community by ensuring timely and effective management of winter weather conditions. The Town of Bonavista is responsible for the maintenance of public road rights-of-ways within the geographical boundaries of the Town of Bonavista with the exception of the provincially owned and operated roads ( Confederation Drive, John Cabot Drive, Ryan's Hill Road, Campbell Street, Church Street, Cape Shore Road, Hospital Road, Station Road, Coster Street, Elliston Road, and Spillar's Cove Road. ) This policy outlines the standard procedure by which the Town of Bonavista conducts its snow-clearing and ice-control operations during the winter season. This policy is enforced during the period of December 1 to April 15 or during any time in which snow-clearing operations are deemed necessary by the Municipality. NOTE: There will be no deviation from the priorities in this policy except for medical emergencies that take place during extreme snow events. Friday, December 27th - DOUBLE RUN Weekly pickups that are normally on Thursday (26th) and Friday (27th) will be picked up on the 27th. Monday, December 30th - DOUBLE RUN Weekly pickups that are normally on Tuesday (31st) and Wednesday (1st), will be picked up on the 30th. Friday, January 3rd - DOUBLE RUN Weekly pickups that are normally on Thursday (2nd) and Friday (3rd), will be picked up on the 3rd. Anything that is missed on one day, will be picked up the following day!

URBAN AND RURAL PLANNING ACT, 2000 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TOWN OF BONAVISTA MUNICIPAL PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, 2014 -2024 Municipal Plan Amendment No. 3, 2024 Development Regulations Amendment No. 3, 2024 Town Council of Bonavista has adopted Municipal Plan Amendment No. 3, 2024 and Development Regulations Amendment No. 3, 2024 in the area of Dwyer Street. A Public Hearing to consider objections and representations on the Municipal Plan No. 3, 2024 and Development Regulations No. 3, 2024 will be held on January 3, 2024, at the Garrick Theatre at 3 p.m. In general terms, the Town of Bonavista wishes to allow the development of multi-unit dwellings off Dwyer Street for seniors' housing. The 1.279-hectare site is proposed to be re-designated from “Public Use” to “Residential” on the Future Land Use map of the Municipal Plan and re-zoned from “Public Use” to “Residential Multi-Unit” on the Land Use Zoning map of the Development Regulations. Church Street Festival is in search of a Photographer to capture the magic of the season around Bonavista during a Month of Merry. The Church Street Festival Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals from professional photographers to provide photography services to the Church Street Festival Committee for the Month of Merry. The evaluation will be based on the criteria listed inthe RFP, and the committee will select the photographer(s) who best represents the Church Street Festival, and who demonstrates the technical and stylistic standards for photography.
