  • Vehicle Wrecks

    The Town of Bonavista would like to remind residents of their responsibilities under the Occupancy and Maintenance Regulations (Section 2.31), which require that all properties be kept free of debris. This includes vehicles that are wrecked, discarded, or in an abandoned condition. Maintaining clean and safe properties helps protect property values, improves community appearance, and reduces environmental concerns. Residents who currently have vehicle wrecks on their property are asked to arrange for their removal as soon as possible. If assistance is required, the Town can help coordinate removal. Property owners may contact the Town Office to have vehicle wreckage added to the bulk collection list, with scheduled pickups taking place throughout June and July.     Bulk garbage collection for Bonavista will be held on the designated day for your area. Registration is required for pick up. You must call or email the Town Hall to schedule collection. It may take several days for all bulk garbage items to be removed from all residences in the area. For example, if you are scheduled for curbside pick-up on Monday, if there are a high number of scheduled collections, the pickup may occur on the next day. Register for Curbside Collection: To arrange for bulk garbage curbside collection please contact the Town Hall.     The Town of Bonavista is looking for a Seasonal Labourer . Under the direction of the Director of External Operations (DEO), the Seasonal Labourer performs general duties for the operation and maintenance of public works and water and sewer work for the town.   Wage: As per the Union Agreement Duration of Position: Seasonal   The duties of the Seasonal Labourer  are as follows: ·         Assists skilled tradespersons such as Heavy Equipment Operators, Pipe Fitters and Carpenters etc. with the performance of their work. ·         Performs all manual duties in the operation of the town as assigned by the DEO including erecting signs, constructing barricades, fences and painting etc. ·         Operates light equipment such as pick-up trucks, pavement saw and plate tamper etc. ·         Assists in maintenance and upkeep of town facilities and keeps building entrances free of ice and snow. ·         Assists with maintenance of the town dump when required. ·         Ensures that tools, light equipment, barricades, etc. are properly cared for and returned to the specified location when finished. ·         A valid NL/Lab. Class 05 license is necessary. ·         A valid NL/Lab. Class 03,08,09, and 9A would be an asset. ·         Operates and cares for town equipment such as water pumps and hoses, etc. and ensures that proper safety precautions are taken for the protection and safety of employees, the public, private properties, and town equipment. ·         Performs other related duties as required.   ·         The successful applicant will be guaranteed a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. ·         Salary is in accordance with the Union Agreement.   This position is open to all applicants.   • RFP: Cleaning, Sandblasting & Refinishing of Structural Steel Roof Beams – Bonavista Cabot Stadium

    The Town of Bonavista invites proposals from qualified contractors for the following: Cleaning, Sandblasting, and Refinishing Structural Steel Roof Beams of Bonavista Cabot Stadium The purpose of this project is to remove corrosion and deteriorated coatings and apply a protective finish to help preserve the structural steel. SCOPE OF WORK The successful contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, equipment, materials, supervision, and safety measures required to complete the work. The work will generally include, but is not limited to: Site preparation • Inspect the work area and confirm access requirements • Provide scaffolding, lifts, fall protection, and other equipment required to safely access the beams • Protect surrounding structures and surfaces from dust, debris, or damage during the work Cleaning and Surface Preparation • Remove dirt, grease, rust, loose paint, and contaminants from all designated beams • Sandblast or abrasive blast the steel surfaces to remove corrosion and existing coatings • Prepare the surface to an appropriate standard suitable for refinishing. Inspection • Inspect the beams after blasting for signs of corrosion, deterioration, or structural concerns • Report any concerns to the Stadium Manager prior to proceeding with refinishing Refinishing • Apply a protective coating or paint system suitable for structural steel Contractor Qualifications • Experience performing similar sandblasting and steel refinishing work • Ability to safely complete work at heights • Proof of liability insurance • Compliance with all OHS regulations Schedule • The schedule will be determined in consultation with the Director of Recreation and Community Services and will be coordinated to accommodate scheduled arena events. Work must be completed before September 1, 2026.
